The Farnsworth House

Designed by Mies van der Rohe

The Farnsworth House is an icon of modernist architecture.

“Firstly, realizing that his trees appeal to modernists, Bliss had the trees photographed inside many classic 1950’s and ’60s homes. These homes need to have dramatic glass exteriors so that the trees can glow from within. Secondly, these homes include the 1951 Farnsworth House, holding designs by Mies van der Rohe, in Plano, Illinois. Architect Charles Deaton finished designing the home in 1963, in Genesee, Colorado. As this page indicates, the trees make an appearance in the Stahl House in the Hollywood Hills. Architects and Historians know this house as Case Study House #22. In conclusion, the house holds designs by Pierre Koenig.”- Architectural Digest article Making The Christmas Tree Modern
